Brandon Winfield of Fairfax County Remembered Following Passing

FAIRFAX COUNTY VIRGINIA, The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department is grieving the loss of Firefighter Brandon Winfield, who passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, following a brief illness.

Winfield began his career with Fairfax County in 2006 as part of Recruit Class 121 and went on to serve the community for two decades. Over his 20-year tenure, he earned the respect of colleagues and became a valued member of the department. He was most recently assigned to Fire Station 37 in Kingstowne on C-Shift.

Department leaders described Winfield as a dedicated firefighter, supportive mentor, and trusted friend whose positive attitude made a meaningful impact within the department and throughout the community. He was recognized for encouraging fellow firefighters and offering guidance to newer members of the team.

“Firefighter Winfield served with unwavering dedication that will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the department and the community,” the department shared in a statement. “He will be greatly missed.”

During his career, Winfield responded to numerous emergency situations, working to safeguard lives and property. Fellow firefighters noted that his commitment extended beyond emergency response, reflecting values of teamwork, compassion, and leadership in his daily service.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, and their two daughters, Dylan and Colby; his mother, Lewoner; and his siblings, Duane and Robin, along with extended family members and friends.

Members of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department have expressed their deepest sympathies to Winfield’s family as they honor a colleague remembered for his dedication and kindness.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days as the department and community prepare to recognize his life and years of service.
