CARIBBEAN CRUISE INCIDENT, a long-developing investigation into the death of 18-year-old Anna Kepner has entered a new phase following the filing of federal charges related to her death aboard a cruise ship last year.
Authorities confirmed that Anna’s 16-year-old stepbrother, Timothy Hudson, has been indicted on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse.
Although he was a minor at the time of the alleged incident, prosecutors stated that Hudson will be tried as an adult in federal court. Due to his age, he is not eligible for the death penalty.
Anna was traveling with family on a six-day voyage aboard the Carnival Horizon when she was reported missing. The ship was en route from Mexico to Florida on November 7 when her body was discovered.
Investigators said Anna had been sharing a cabin with Hudson and her younger half-brother during the trip.
Family members reported that she was last seen the evening before her death after saying she was not feeling well and planned to rest early.
The following morning, a crew member discovered her body inside the cabin, prompting an immediate response from ship personnel and federal authorities.
A subsequent investigation determined that Anna died from asphyxiation. Sources familiar with the case indicated that the circumstances were consistent with the use of a chokehold, although officials have not publicly released full forensic details.
