South Fulton Shooting Leaves Teens Jamauri Smarr, 16, and Jeremiah Carter, 14, Dead

SOUTH FULTON GEORGIA, Authorities in South Fulton are actively searching for a suspect following a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of two teenagers Tuesday night in a residential subdivision.
According to the City of South Fulton Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Fortune Point in the Cooks Landing neighborhood shortly before 8:30 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, responding officers found two juvenile victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel transported both victims to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Despite lifesaving efforts, authorities later confirmed that both teenagers died from their injuries.
The victims were identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office as 16-year-old Jamauri Smarr and 14-year-old Jeremiah Carter.
Investigators remained at the scene for several hours, collecting evidence and canvassing the area.
A white sedan believed to be connected to the investigation was recovered at the scene and towed for further examination.
At this time, police have not released details regarding a possible motive, and it remains unclear what led up to the shooting.
Authorities have also not confirmed whether the victims were residents of the neighborhood.
In a statement issued overnight, South Fulton Mayor Carmalitha Gumbs expressed sorrow over the incident, calling it a devastating loss for the community. She stated that city officials are working closely with law enforcement to gather more information and support the ongoing investigation.
Police continue to search for the individual or individuals responsible and are urging anyone with information related to the incident to contact the South Fulton Police Department.
