Mexican Navy Plane Goes Down in Water Near Galveston, Texas

Authorities confirmed that a Mexican military medical aircraft carrying eight people crashed into Galveston Bay near the Interstate 45 Causeway on the Galveston side, triggering an immediate search-and-rescue response, according to preliminary reports.
Emergency radio traffic indicated that the aircraft, identified through flight-tracking information as belonging to the Mexican Navy, went down in the water shortly after entering the Galveston area.
Multiple emergency and law enforcement agencies were dispatched to the scene after reports indicated that the aircraft was partially submerged and continuing to sink as responders arrived.
Scanner communications suggested that at least one individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another occupant was transported to a hospital while receiving life-saving medical care.
Authorities also reported that a female passenger sustained serious injuries and that rescue crews were providing emergency medical assistance to the pilot as recovery efforts continued at the crash site.
Officials stated that search operations remained active to ensure that all individuals on board were located and that the aircraft was secured to prevent additional hazards.
At this time, authorities have not released the identities of those aboard the aircraft, nor have they confirmed what may have caused the crash.
