JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA, Authorities in Jacksonville are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred at a gas station late Tuesday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The incident took place at the Gate gas station located at 5617 Bowden Road near Interstate 95, where deputies initially responded to a report of an armed robbery in progress.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers encountered a situation that led to an exchange of gunfire, resulting in one individual being shot. Officials confirmed that the individual was found at the scene and was pronounced dead, referenced in police radio traffic as a “Signal 7,” indicating a fatality.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed that no officers were injured during the incident, and all personnel involved have been accounted for.
Authorities have secured the area and are urging the public to avoid the vicinity of Bowden Road and I-95 while the investigation remains active.
At this time, officials have not released the identity of the individual who was shot or additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the use of deadly force.
