23-Year-Old Man Pleads Not Guilty in Double Murder of Two Teens Outside Massachusetts Chipotle

BROCKTON MASSACHUSETTS, A 23-year-old man accused of fatally shooting two teenagers outside a Brockton Chipotle has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, Acting U.S. Marshal Dennis Matulewicz, and Brockton Police Chief Brenda Perez.
Davinci Leonard, 23, appeared in Brockton Superior Court and entered not guilty pleas to two counts of murder. He also pleaded not guilty to one count of discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, one count of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and one count of carrying ammunition without an FID card. He was ordered held without bail.
Leonard is accused of killing 15-year-old Tymari Albertson and 18-year-old Cevannah Alvarez.
The shootings occurred on March 22, 2025, at approximately 7:04 p.m., when Brockton Police received a 911 call reporting gunfire outside the Chipotle located at 500 Westgate Drive. Responding officers found a male and a female victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital. Albertson was later pronounced deceased after sustaining gunshot wounds to the face and torso. Alvarez was transported by medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital but later died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Authorities stated that Leonard fled the scene immediately after the shooting. An extensive investigation followed, involving the Massachusetts State Police, the MSP Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, and Brockton Police. Investigators conducted witness interviews, reviewed surveillance footage, and canvassed the surrounding area. An arrest warrant was issued, and a BOLO alert was distributed through the Commonwealth Fusion Center.
On February 12, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m. PT, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Southern District of California Mexico Investigative Liaison team, working with the San Diego Fugitive Task Force and Mexico’s Fuerza Estatal de Seguridad Ciudadana (FESC), apprehended Leonard in Mexico. He was returned to the United States, taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service, and transported to Massachusetts for arraignment.
Two additional individuals have been indicted in connection with the case. David Mosley-Lott, 32, of Quincy, is charged with accessory after the fact and intimidation of a witness. Jaylen Speed, 25, of Dorchester, is charged with accessory after the fact.
Leonard is scheduled to return to court on May 13. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Jennifer Sprague and Kelly Waldo.
