Columbia Firefighters Union President Arrested on Third-Degree Assault Suspicion

COLUMBIA, The president of the Columbia Firefighters’ Union has been arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault following an incident reported Monday night.
According to Columbia police, 38-year-old Zachary Privette was taken into custody at Truman’s Bar & Grill, located near Shakespeare’s West Restaurant.
Authorities confirmed that Privette was later released from the Boone County Jail after posting a $4,500 bond.
Boone County Prosecutor Roger Johnson stated that the case is currently under review. A bond return hearing has been scheduled for May 14, 2026, at the Boone County Courthouse as the legal process moves forward. Johnson added that he could not provide further details until formal charges are filed.
Jail records indicate that Privette was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault. Police reported that the alleged victim is a 63-year-old man.
Columbia Police Department spokesperson Colin Imhoff said the incident occurred around 9 p.m. at Truman’s Bar & Grill. He noted that no additional details were available at this time and that more information is expected once court documents are released.
