Spring Grove Incident Leaves Two Dead in Apparent Domestic Tragedy

SPRING GROVE PA, A Pennsylvania couple has died in an apparent murder-suicide after a domestic violence incident at an apartment complex in Spring Grove, authorities said.
Tyrelle Dwayne Manley Sr., 33, is alleged to have shot and killed his girlfriend, 34-year-old Leticia Velez, before turning the firearm on himself. The shooting occurred on Saturday, January 31, at the Spring Hollow Apartments in the first block of East 3rd Avenue.
According to the York County Coroner’s Office, York County Regional Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:13 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting involving two deceased individuals. Both Manley and Velez were found with multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators said the shooting took place inside the couple’s residence. Autopsies were conducted Tuesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, which confirmed the causes of death. Authorities noted that while Manley died from multiple gunshot wounds, the official manner of death remains under investigation.
A neighbor told PennLive that they witnessed Manley shoot Velez before shooting himself. The neighbor reported hearing loud banging inside the apartment followed by gunshots. Police described the incident as isolated and stated there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Leticia Velez was employed as a customer service representative at Waste Connections, where she had worked full-time since August 2022, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Following the identification of Manley, family members shared emotional messages on social media, describing him as a devoted father and uncle who played an important role in his family. One relative wrote that Manley helped raise her son after the child’s father — Manley’s brother — was killed. She described him as a caring and supportive presence, while also acknowledging that he struggled with mental health challenges.
York County Regional Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
