Veterans Park Closed After Large Fight in Lehigh Acres; One Person Taken Into Custody

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident at Veterans Park in Lehigh Acres that led to the park’s closure and one person being taken into custody.
According to deputies, authorities rushed to the park Monday afternoon after receiving reports of a shooting. Investigators later clarified that the situation began as a large physical fight, during which shots were fired into the air.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that one individual was injured during the disturbance, though officials emphasized the injury was not caused by gunfire.
The suspect involved in the incident has been taken into custody. As a precaution, Veterans Park, located just off Homestead Road, remains closed while deputies continue their investigation.
In an earlier statement, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to reports of a large disturbance at the park. At that time, officials noted that no serious injuries had been reported and that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation remains active, and authorities have not released additional details. Deputies are continuing to gather information to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
