Two Arrested Following Incident at Leake County Gathering

LEAKE COUNTY, Miss. — Authorities are investigating an incident that unfolded Saturday night at a family and friends gathering in Leake County, resulting in arrests and injuries.

According to officials, an argument involving Tyrone Stingley escalated at a residence during the gathering. Authorities allege that Stingley left the home, drove a short distance away, exited the vehicle, and discharged multiple rounds from a firearm toward the residence. During the incident, the spouse of a law enforcement officer was injured.

Law enforcement said Stingley and the driver of the vehicle fled the scene following the incident. A coordinated response involving the Leake County Sheriff’s Office, Scott County SWAT, and Newton County SRT led authorities to a residence in Walnut Grove. After surrounding the location, officials reported that Stingley and a woman identified as his wife or possible girlfriend surrendered peacefully after approximately 15 minutes.

Early information indicates that Stingley may be related to the injured woman. She was transported to a hospital in Jackson for medical treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. Authorities confirmed that Tyrone Stingley, 37, and Lynette Martin, 40, were taken into custody and booked into the Leake County Jail at approximately 2:20 a.m. Both individuals are currently being held pending further action by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.

Officials stated that the investigation remains ongoing and that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
