One Dead, One Injured in Shooting at Publix in Boynton Beach, Florida
BOYNTON BEACH, A heavy law enforcement presence remained in place Monday following a shooting incident near High Ridge Road just north of Gateway Boulevard, authorities said.
Police reported that the incident occurred in the 2400 block of High Ridge Road. As officers responded and worked to secure the scene, residents were urged to avoid the surrounding area, including High Ridge Road, Miner Road, Gateway Boulevard, and nearby streets.
According to preliminary information released by police, two people were shot during the incident. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim was taken to a nearby hospital, though officials have not released details about that person’s condition.
Authorities emphasized that the shooting did not take place at a school. However, as a precaution, schools and businesses within the area were placed on lockdown while law enforcement carried out their response and investigation.
Multiple law enforcement agencies were seen at the scene, and traffic in the area was temporarily restricted. Police later confirmed that the scene had been secured and that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Investigators have not released the identities of the victims or provided information about a possible suspect. Officials said an active shooter call was received by 911, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Residents and motorists were advised to continue avoiding the area until roadways are fully reopened and all safety measures are lifted.
