Parents of KSU Shooting Victim Arrested in Indiana on Intimidation Charges, Records Show

EVANSVILLE, Ind. Court records reviewed by LEX 18 confirm that the parents of a Kentucky State University shooting victim have both been arrested in Indiana on charges of intimidation involving an alleged threat to commit a forcible felony.
According to records, 38-year-old Dejon Darrell Fox and 37-year-old Chardnae Cleveland, the parents of 19-year-old Dejon Darrell Fox Jr., were arrested Tuesday in connection with social media activity following their son’s death. Fox Jr. was fatally shot on December 9 on the Kentucky State University campus.
Probable cause affidavits state that the intimidation charges stem from Facebook posts the two allegedly made after the shooting. Investigators reported that the content of the posts implied an intent for violent retaliation toward the family of Jacob Bard, the man who had previously been arrested in connection with the shooting.
The affidavits further noted that one of the posts allegedly referenced a “prominent criminal street gang,” which authorities said contributed to concerns about potential threats of violence. As a result, the posts were cited as the basis for the intimidation charges filed against both parents.
Jacob Bard, who was originally arrested in connection with the KSU shooting, will not face murder charges. A grand jury later determined there was insufficient evidence to move forward with the case, according to earlier reporting.
Court records indicate that both Fox and Cleveland have since been released following their arrests. No additional details regarding court dates or further legal proceedings have been released at this time.
The case continues to draw attention as multiple investigations and legal matters remain connected to the events surrounding the deadly shooting at Kentucky State University.
