NYC: Jets Player Kris Boyd Hospitalized as Officials Review Midtown Incident

NEW YORK — New York Jets special teams player Kris Boyd is receiving medical care at Manhattan’s Bellevue Hospital after an early-morning incident outside a midtown restaurant on Sunday. Police confirmed he is in critical but stable condition as the investigation continues.
A team spokesperson noted that the Jets are aware of the situation but are not providing additional comments at this time.
According to the New York Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. near a restaurant on West 38th Street. No arrests have been made, and officials stated that the investigation remains active. Additional details have not yet been released by the NYPD.
Reports indicate that a dispute took place outside the restaurant before the situation escalated. Individuals involved were seen leaving the area in multiple vehicles. Authorities are reviewing available surveillance footage and gathering witness statements to determine the sequence of events.
Emergency personnel transported Boyd, 29, to Bellevue Hospital shortly after the incident. He is in his first season with the Jets after signing a one-year contract during free agency, though he has not played this season due to a preseason shoulder injury.
Boyd, a cornerback, began his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings after being selected in the seventh round of the 2019 draft. He later spent time with the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans before joining the Jets.
Law enforcement officials have stated that updates will be provided as more verified information becomes available. Meanwhile, teammates and members of the NFL community have expressed support as Boyd continues to receive treatment.
