Several juveniles were shot at a Bath Township Airbnb party early Sunday. Police say it was a party promoted on social media.
SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. — Police are investigating a shooting that left nine people injured early Sunday morning at an Airbnb rental property in Bath Township.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting around midnight at a home in the 900 block of Top O Hill Drive, where a large group of juveniles had gathered for a party promoted on social media, according to information released by Bath Township Police.
“The Bath Township community experienced a tragic and senseless act of violence early this morning,” said Bath Township police chief Vito Sinopoli.
Police say an unknown suspect or suspects opened fire inside the residence, striking multiple people before fleeing the scene.
In a press conference on Sunday morning, Bath police confirmed that nine individuals were injured in the shooting, with the victims being a mix of both adults and juveniles.
The victims were transported to nearby hospitals, but their conditions have not been released.
Emergency responders from more than a dozen agencies, including police and fire departments from Akron, Copley, Fairlawn, Richfield, and others, arrived at the scene and provided life-saving aid.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting Bath Township Police in processing the crime scene and investigating the incident.
Police say they are in contact with Airbnb and the property owner as part of the investigation.
Sinopoli also noted that in Bath Township, there is a zoning order that prohibits short-term rentals.
