Suspect in Custody After Shooting and House Fire in Glenwood

 Law enforcement and emergency services are actively responding to a critical incident involving an active shooter and a residential structure fire in the area of 6th Street and North Grove Street in Glenwood, Iowa.

Authorities confirmed that multiple individuals have been injured, and a home in the vicinity has caught fire as a result of the ongoing incident. 

The situation prompted a large-scale response from police, fire, and emergency medical services, and is being treated as a multi-victim shooting.

The Glenwood Police Department, Mills County Sheriff’s Office, and fire crews are on scene.

A perimeter has been established, and roads surrounding the 400 block of North Grove Street are currently closed to the public.

According to an official alert issued by Mills County Emergency Management:

“Please remain clear of the area around 405 North Grove as an active law enforcement situation is in progress.”

The suspect has been taken into custody.

However, the scene remains active and fluid as authorities work to secure the area, investigate the cause of the fire, and assess the extent of injuries sustained.

Residents are urged to avoid the area and comply with all instructions from law enforcement.

Glenwood is located just miles from Offutt Air Force Base, though there are currently no indications of any threat to the base or broader community beyond the immediate incident location.
