Miami Influencer Found Dead at Tanzania Resort, Death Under Investigation

ZANZIBAR TANZANIA, a Miami-based lifestyle influencer has been found dead at a luxury resort in Tanzania under circumstances that authorities have ruled as suicide, though the case is now being questioned by family and friends.
Ashly Robinson, also known online as Ashlee Jenae, 31, was discovered dead at the Serval Wildlife Resort in Zanzibar. Local officials stated that the cause of death was hanging, and initially classified the incident as a suicide.
The influencer had traveled to Tanzania on April 5 to celebrate her 31st birthday and recent engagement with her fiancé, crypto financier Joe McCann, founder of Asymmetric Financial.
The couple had been staying at a luxury villa at Zuri Zanzibar, where McCann reportedly proposed during the trip.
In the days before her death, Robinson had shared social media posts documenting her vacation, including moments from a safari and a video of the proposal. Her final post showed her feeding a giraffe, captioned as a celebration of her birthday and life milestone.
Following the announcement of her death, questions have been raised on social media, with some friends and followers expressing doubts about the circumstances. They noted that she appeared happy and showed no visible signs of distress in her final posts.
Some online claims have suggested inconsistencies in early reports regarding where her body was found, though authorities have not confirmed such details publicly. Other unverified allegations have also circulated regarding delays in notifying family members.
Friends and supporters have called for further investigation and transparency, while emphasizing that Robinson showed no indication of suicidal intent.
The influencer’s family has requested a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death, stating that they are working with officials to understand what happened during her final days.
Local authorities in Tanzania have not released additional public comments, and the investigation remains ongoing.
McCann has not publicly commented on the incident.
