Mother Ashley Kimmons Dies After Being Shot by 6-Year-Old Child in Memphis Area

MEMPHIS TENNESSEE, A woman has died after being shot by a child Friday afternoon in the Hickory Hill area, according to Memphis Police.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 2:53 p.m. on East Shelby Drive near Riverdale Road.

According to police, the child accidentally discharged the firearm, striking the woman.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the woman was pronounced dead.

Authorities later identified the victim as Ashley Kimmons.

Memphis Police have not released the child’s age or additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to review the incident.
