Human Teeth Discovered in Sevierville Yard as Authorities Launch Forensic Investigation

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — A disturbing discovery on a Sevierville homeowner’s property has prompted a multi-agency investigation after several human teeth were found emerging from the ground.
Homeowner Shaelyn Baggett said she first noticed what appeared to be teeth protruding from the soil in her yard earlier this week. After further inspection, she located additional teeth, bringing the total number recovered to eight.
“By uncovered, I mean I looked down and there they were — literally sprouting from the earth,” Baggett said.
Authorities were notified immediately, and law enforcement officials have since confirmed that the teeth are human.
The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation with assistance from forensic investigators, the medical examiner’s office, a dental professional, and anthropologists. Officials say the teeth appear to be old, though their exact age and how long they may have been buried have not yet been determined.
At this time, investigators have not concluded whether the discovery is connected to criminal activity, historical remains, or another explanation.
Baggett said she has been informed that excavation work is expected to take place on her property, which may include digging into portions of her yard and driveway as authorities search for additional remains or evidence.
Officials continue to examine the surrounding area and emphasize that the investigation remains ongoing. No further details have been released.
Baggett stated she plans to continue sharing updates publicly as more information becomes available.
