Florence Residents Honor the Memory of Joshua D. Strozier After Highway Collision

FLORENCE, Ala. — The Florence community is mourning the passing of 26-year-old Joshua D. Strozier, who died following a collision on Alabama Highway 20 on Wednesday, November 12. The incident occurred around 1:12 p.m. near the 7-mile marker, just west of Florence. According to officials, Strozier was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado when it collided with a 2017 John Deere S690 combine traveling in the area. Emergency personnel arrived shortly after the crash and confirmed that Strozier had passed away at the scene. The driver of the combine was not injured.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is leading the investigation into the circumstances of the collision. Authorities are reviewing roadway conditions, vehicle factors, and available witness statements to understand how the two vehicles came into contact. ALEA noted that Strozier was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, a detail investigators say can significantly influence injury outcomes in serious collisions. Officials continue to emphasize the importance of seat belt use and attentiveness when traveling near large agricultural equipment.
Friends and family describe Joshua Strozier as a warm, determined, and caring young man. Those who knew him recall his sense of humor, his dedication to loved ones, and his active involvement in gatherings and community events. His passing has deeply affected many in both Florence and Tuscaloosa, where he had strong personal connections.
The section of Highway 20 where the collision occurred is frequently used by both passenger vehicles and agricultural machinery, making it a route where size differences between vehicles can pose safety challenges. As part of their review, investigators are examining whether visibility, roadway layout, or other contributing factors played a role in the incident.
First responders and law enforcement officers worked to secure the area, guide traffic, and gather evidence needed for the ongoing investigation. ALEA continues to ask anyone with information or witness observations to contact authorities to assist in completing a thorough review.
As the community reflects on Joshua Strozier’s life, family members and friends are remembering him for his kindness, his ambition, and the positive influence he had on those around him. His passing has prompted many to express condolences and support while calling attention to roadway safety and caution around large equipment.
Joshua will be remembered by those who knew him for the connections he built and the meaningful impact he had on others.
