Husband and Wife Recover After Collision That Claimed Life of 17-Year-Old Girl

Authorities are reporting a two-vehicle crash in Dublin, Ohio, that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old girl and left four others injured on Sunday evening. The incident occurred around 7:24 p.m. on Hyland Croy Road near Johnston Drive, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Investigators say a northbound 2016 Kia Forte, driven by Claudia Phan, 17, crossed left of center and collided with a southbound 2017 Ford Explorer driven by 37-year-old Jason Lyle of Lewis Center. The impact pushed both vehicles off the right side of the roadway, prompting an immediate emergency response from multiple agencies.
Phan suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Union County Coroner’s Office. Officials shared that the circumstances leading to the vehicle crossing the center line remain under review as part of the ongoing investigation.
Jason Lyle sustained serious injuries and was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital. His wife, 34-year-old Ashley Lyle, who was in the front passenger seat at the time of the collision, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Two juvenile passengers riding in the Ford Explorer were transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, each with minor injuries. Troopers noted that all injured individuals received prompt medical attention as crews worked to secure the area.
Emergency responders from several jurisdictions—including the Jerome Township, Pleasant Valley, and Norwich Township fire departments—assisted at the scene alongside Northwest Towing and Recovery and the Union County Coroner’s Office.
The Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation, which remains active as officials work to understand the factors that contributed to the crash.
