Shots-Fired Investigation in Windsor Leads to Extortion Charge Against Adil Albert, 46

Windsor Police Service — has arrested and charged a 46-year-old man in connection with an ongoing extortion investigation linked to a shots-fired incident reported earlier this month.

The case began on November 2, 2025, when officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire directed at a home in the 2500 block of Academy Drive. Responding units confirmed that several rounds struck the residence, though no injuries were reported.

Surveillance footage from the area showed a suspect arriving in a black SUV, firing several shots at the home, and fleeing moments later.

During interviews with the Major Crimes Unit, the homeowner told detectives that he had borrowed $50,000 from an individual to assist with a property down payment. After he stopped making payments, the lender allegedly issued threats, including statements that he would “send people to his house.”

Following a detailed investigation, police identified 46-year-old Adil Albert as a suspect tied to the extortion aspect of the case.

On November 13, shortly after 5:00 p.m., officers from the Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) Unit located Albert outside a residence on Everts Avenue and arrested him without incident.

Albert has been formally charged with:

  • Extortion

  • Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence: reckless discharge of a firearm at or into a residence

  • Obstruction of justice

While Albert faces charges related to the extortion activity, police confirm that the November 2 shooting itself remains under active investigation. No arrests have been made regarding the firearm discharge.

Detectives continue to seek witness information, video evidence, and any leads that may help identify the individual or individuals responsible for firing the shots.
