Dy’Mond Nicholson Death: Independence Apartment Shooting Ruled Murder-Suicide

INDEPENDENCE MO, Authorities are examining a deadly shooting at an apartment complex on Tuesday evening that has been ruled a murder-suicide, resulting in the deaths of both a man and a woman.
According to Independence police, officers were called around 6:20 p.m. to the Independence Ridge Apartments on East 37th Terrace, situated behind Independence Commons, after reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they entered an apartment where they found an adult male and female, both with gunshot injuries.
Both victims were declared dead at the scene.
The department’s Criminal Investigations Unit has determined that the case is being treated as a murder-suicide.
Although officials have not formally released the identities, family members and sources have identified the female victim as Dy’Mond Nicholson.
Information from those close to the situation indicates that Nicholson was shot by her boyfriend inside the apartment before he later took his own life.
Reports suggest the incident may have taken place in front of her young child; however, authorities have not officially confirmed this detail.
