Police Say Missing Tompkins County Girl Has Been Found

TOMPKINS COUNTY NEW YORK, Authorities say a missing 10-year-old girl who prompted a search in the Town of Ulysses has been located.
The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office had been searching for Joanne Washburn after she was reported missing from her home in the 5000 block of Cold Springs Road on the morning of March 5. Deputies responded to the residence at approximately 6:34 a.m. after her parents discovered she was not inside the home.
According to investigators, Joanne was last seen at the residence around 6:00 p.m. the previous evening. Her parents realized she was missing at about 6:00 a.m., prompting a search by law enforcement.
Authorities had previously shared that Joanne was believed to be wearing a blue jacket and gray and blue boots and may have been carrying a purple backpack with yellow strings.
During the search, a witness reported possibly seeing a child matching Joanne’s description walking along Trumansburg Road at around 1:00 a.m. Multiple law enforcement units were deployed to search the Town of Ulysses and nearby areas.
Officials also noted that Joanne did not arrive at her school in Trumansburg on Thursday morning.
Authorities later confirmed that Joanne Washburn has now been located. Additional details regarding where she was found have not yet been released.
Officials thanked the public for their assistance and said the investigation remains ongoing.
