One Person Injured in Peterborough Shooting as Heavy Police Presence Reported in Ontario

PETERBOROUGH ONTARIO, Police are investigating a reported shooting at a residence on George Street on Friday afternoon, which prompted a large emergency response and temporary road closures in the area.
According to initial reports, officers with the Peterborough Police Service and paramedics were dispatched to a home on George Street south of Parkhill Road at approximately 3:45 p.m. following reports of a shooting.
When emergency crews arrived, officers quickly established a perimeter around the residence while paramedics treated at least one person inside an ambulance parked near the scene.
The injured individual was later transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for further treatment, with a police officer following the ambulance as it left the area.
Witnesses reported seeing several officers, some armed with rifles, surrounding the property as authorities worked to secure and clear the home. Tactical paramedics were also staged nearby as a precaution but were ultimately not required.
During the police response, Parkhill Road was temporarily closed between Water Street and just west of George Street while officers conducted their investigation. The roadway has since been reopened.
Authorities have not confirmed whether a suspect has been taken into custody, and officials have not released details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
Police have also not provided an update regarding the condition of the person transported to the hospital.
Officials noted that this is the second reported shooting connected to the same location, with a previous incident occurring in September 2024.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police say additional information will be released once a formal statement is issued.
