BALTIMORE MARYLAND, A major police incident unfolded Sunday on Park Heights Avenue as officers responded to a rapidly escalating situation involving gunfire, an injured officer, and a reported hostage scenario.

According to emergency radio traffic from the Baltimore Police Department, a “Signal 13” officer-down alert was transmitted after shots were fired in the 6200 block of Park Heights Avenue near the intersection with Pinkney Road.

The location is close to the Agudath Israel of Baltimore synagogue.

Initial reports indicated officers had been responding to a possible hostage situation when the encounter turned violent.

During the incident, two officers were reportedly pinned down, and one officer was struck by gunfire.
