Lexington Shooting Leaves Jennifer Marsaw and Son Marzai Dawson Dead, Suspect Irving Marsaw Arrested by K-9

LEXINGTON MINNESOTA, Authorities are conducting an active investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred during the early morning hours of March 18, 2026, in Lexington.
At approximately 12:52 a.m., multiple law enforcement agencies—including the Centennial Lakes Police Department, Coon Rapids Police Department, Blaine Police Department, Lino Lakes Police Department, Fridley Police Department, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office—along with Allina EMS, responded to a residence near the 9300 block of Ryan Place following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult female, identified as Jennifer Marsaw, deceased inside the home.
Her 5-year-old son, Marzai Dawson, was also located at the scene with critical injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
Authorities have not formally released the victims’ identities pending official confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Following the initial response, law enforcement deployed a K-9 unit to search the surrounding area.
An adult male suspect, identified as Irving Marsaw, was later located and taken into custody with the assistance of the K-9 unit.
He was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
Officials have stated that the incident does not appear to be random and that there is no known ongoing threat to the public.
While details surrounding the events leading up to the shooting have not been fully released, the case is being investigated as a domestic-related incident.
Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and review the circumstances surrounding the case.
The investigation remains under the direction of the Centennial Lakes Police Department, with assistance from the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
