When officers arrived at the scene, they found three individuals inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.

Two adult men were pronounced dead at the scene, while a female victim was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Police later identified the deceased victims as 23-year-old Tevin Burney and 26-year-old Jarrett Godfrey, both residents of Durham.

Burney was reportedly known in the local music community by the stage name “YBT” and was associated with the Durham-based rap collective 83 Babies, which gained regional attention after the release of their 2018 viral track “No Cap.”

The group rose to prominence in the late 2010s, gaining online attention for their music before eventually disbanding following internal issues and legal challenges involving some members. After the group’s breakup, Burney and others connected to the collective reportedly pursued independent music careers.

The shooting remains an active and ongoing investigation, and authorities say additional information may be released as the case develops.
