West Hartford Teen Dies After Being Struck by Stray Bullet While Waiting for Uber

HARTFORD CONNECTICUT, A 17-year-old West Hartford teen has died after being struck by a stray bullet while waiting for an Uber ride over the weekend, according to authorities and family members.
Camden Siegal, a senior at Hall High School in West Hartford, passed away two days after he was critically injured in a shooting early Sunday morning.
Hartford Police said officers responded around 1:49 a.m. to Ann Uccello Street near PeoplesBank Arena following reports of gunfire. Investigators believe Siegal was caught in the crossfire while waiting for transportation home.
A second victim, a man in his 20s, was also shot and transported to a hospital in critical but stable condition. Police have not indicated whether either individual was the intended target.
Siegal was set to graduate in early June. Family members described him as a dedicated student and athlete who participated in lacrosse and soccer. He was also involved in his school community, serving as an editor for the school newspaper.
In a statement shared with local media, his family remembered him for his kindness, strong friendships, and positive impact on those around him.
In a recent podcast segment for his school publication, Siegal had reflected on the issue of gun violence following a mass shooting, questioning how communities can better protect innocent people.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held Thursday at The Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford. A memorial fund has been established in his name to support academic and athletic scholarships for youth in the community.
Hartford Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide. No arrests have been announced.
