PALO ALTO, CA, Authorities have identified Summer Devi Mehta, a 16-year-old Palo Alto High School student, as the individual who died in a tragic incident involving a Caltrain on Tuesday. Officials stated that the death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.
Summer Mehta was an 11th-grade student at Palo Alto High School and was remembered by those who knew her as vibrant, creative, and full of potential. Alongside her academic life, she was an aspiring actress who took part in several local stage productions within the Palo Alto community.
Brent Kline, principal of Palo Alto High School, described Summer as an engaged and lively student whose presence made a meaningful impression on campus. Friends and classmates recalled her strong passion for the arts and her expressive, creative spirit.
Summer was the beloved daughter of Amar Raja Mehta, and her passing has deeply affected her family, friends, and the broader school community. In response to the loss, counselors and support staff have been made available to students and faculty to assist them during this difficult period.
