Officials stated that the vehicle, believed to have been driven by another individual of a similar age, was discovered early Monday following reports of the incident.

Police have confirmed that a suspect is currently in custody in connection with the case. However, authorities have not released further details about the arrest or any possible charges as the investigation remains ongoing.

Family members said Montes had attended a cookout at a nearby home on Sunday evening and was expected to return by 11:00 p.m. When he did not arrive, relatives became concerned and began searching for him.

His brother, Moises Montes, explained that the family contacted police shortly after midnight and reached out to local hospitals in an effort to locate him.

According to the family, the driver of the truck later arrived at their home around 4:45 a.m. Monday, accompanied by their parents. Relatives stated that the individual appeared disoriented and claimed not to know what had happened to Montes after the crash. The driver was later taken for a mental health evaluation.

Family members reflected on his character, noting that he was someone who looked out for others and was always willing to help.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and the events that led to Montes’ death.
