OHIO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY, The campus was placed on lockdown Friday evening after a suspect reportedly displayed a handgun during an encounter with a campus security guard before fleeing into nearby wooded areas.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. when a security guard requested assistance after a man allegedly showed a firearm during the interaction. The individual then left the area on foot.
Authorities described the suspect as wearing a black-and-white hoodie and a ball cap. He was last seen running toward wooded areas surrounding the university.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded and established a perimeter around the campus. Officers requested additional resources, including K-9 units and aerial support, as part of the search effort.
University officials initiated the lockdown as a precaution while the situation was being addressed. No injuries have been reported.
