MT. JULIET, Authorities say the suspect involved in an active shooter incident at Cedar Creek Marina in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, is dead following an officer-involved shooting that occurred overnight.
According to officials, Mount Juliet Police officers were dispatched Friday evening to the Cedar Creek Marina, located in the 9000 block of Saundersville Road, after receiving a report of a man threatening another individual on the docks.
Upon arrival at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.
That victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Police determined the suspected shooter had retreated to a boat at the marina and was barricaded inside.
The situation continued for several hours as officers worked to manage the scene and ensure public safety.
At around 1:00 a.m. Saturday, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) reported that the suspect engaged responding officers and fired shots at them under circumstances that remain under investigation.
Officers returned fire, and the suspect was later found deceased on the boat.
During the response, officers also discovered a second adult male victim who had been shot by the suspect.
That individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.
The TBI has assumed responsibility for the investigation, which includes a homicide, an attempted homicide, and an officer-involved shooting.
Agents are conducting interviews, collecting evidence, and working to establish a detailed timeline of events.
Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be submitted to 15th Judicial District Attorney General Jason Lawson for review.
