Farmingville Investigation: Woman Dies, Man Charged in Fatal Incident

FARMINGVILLE NEW YORK, A 46-year-old woman was fatally injured Thursday night in what authorities described as a domestic-related incident at a residence on Granny Road.
According to the Suffolk County Police Department, officers responded to 144 Granny Rd. at approximately 8:15 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers found Adriana Barbosa, 46, and her estranged husband, Marcos Marques-Leal, 57, both with stab wounds. A teenage relative who was inside the home at the time also sustained injuries during the incident.
Barbosa was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. The teenager was also taken to the hospital and treated for injuries described by officials as non-life-threatening. Marques-Leal was transported for medical treatment of serious injuries after authorities allege he inflicted harm on himself.
Charges Filed
Homicide detectives have charged Marques-Leal with second-degree murder, criminal contempt, and endangering the welfare of a child. Police stated that he is expected to be arraigned at a later date.
Authorities have not provided additional details about the events leading up to the incident, noting that the investigation remains ongoing.
Road Closures and Ongoing Investigation
Granny Road has been closed between Mount McKinley Avenue and Old Medford Avenue as investigators continue to process the scene. A large emergency response was reported Thursday evening, with Suffolk County police and the Farmingville Fire Department assisting.
Officials have not confirmed whether there were prior incidents at the address, though the criminal contempt charge may indicate the existence of a court order.
Police said further information will be released as it becomes available.
