Emily Inglewood Fired After Incident Involving Special Needs Child at Destiny Development Center

INGLEWOOD CALIFORNIA, a daycare worker at Destiny Development Center has been fired after surveillance video showed her throwing a shoe at a five-year-old girl with special needs while two other staff members appeared to laugh and did not intervene.
Emily, an employee at the daycare facility, was terminated after the incident, which took place on January 16, was captured on classroom cameras and later shared by the child’s family on Facebook, triggering widespread outrage online.
In the video, Emily is seen throwing a shoe across the room, which strikes the child. After realizing the shoe made contact, she is heard saying, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to do it.”
According to Destiny Development Center director Danielle Williams, Emily claimed she was attempting to scare the child rather than hurt her. The explanation failed to ease public concern, particularly after it was revealed that two other staff members present during the incident did not step in or report what happened.
All three employees seen in the footage have since been fired from their positions.
The child’s mother, Michelae Jones, has publicly called for criminal child abuse charges to be filed, stating that parents place trust in daycare centers to protect their children, especially those with special needs.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing. Authorities said no charges have been announced at this time.
