Police probe: A man is recovering in hospital after being injured in an attack in Riverwood, in Sydney’s south-west, with police treating the matter as a suspected targeted incident.
The incident occurred late Sunday night after residents reported hearing sounds consistent with gunfire in a residential area. Police said the injured man later presented at a hospital and is receiving treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Officers from the St George Police Area Command established a crime scene in Riverwood and cordoned off the area while forensic specialists examined the location for evidence.
Investigators are reviewing available CCTV and speaking with potential witnesses as they work to determine what happened and identify those involved. No arrests have been announced.
Police have urged anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the area at the time to contact authorities, as the investigation continues.
