When first responders arrived, they found the man at the base of the building in critical condition. Paramedics initiated life-saving measures at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

The Calgary Police Service confirmed the death is being investigated as an apparent suicide. Investigators indicated that no foul play is suspected and there is no ongoing risk to the public.

Residents reported a significant emergency response in the downtown area Saturday evening, with police and EMS units temporarily restricting access while crews worked.

Authorities have not released the man’s identity pending notification of next of kin. Additional details are not expected to be made public out of respect for the family’s privacy.

Police are reminding the public that mental health support is available. In Canada, individuals in crisis can call or text 9-8-8 to reach the Suicide Crisis Helpline, which operates 24 hours a day.
