CENTRAL FALLS, Two suspects have been arrested following a violent stabbing incident Thursday night that left three people hospitalized and several others injured in Central Falls, according to police.
Officers responded to the area of Illinois Street and Rand Street at approximately 8:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a fight occurring in the roadway. Police said two vehicles stopped in the middle of the street, and occupants from both cars exited and began fighting.
During the altercation, a total of five people were injured, authorities said. Three of the victims were transported to a hospital, where they were reported to be in critical but stable condition as of the latest update. Police noted that those involved were known to one another and that the incident appears to have stemmed from an ongoing dispute.
Police identified the suspects as Nicholas Cante, 19, and a 15-year-old juvenile. Both individuals are facing charges that include felony assault and disorderly conduct. Investigators said additional charges could be filed as the case continues to be reviewed.
As a precautionary measure, Central Falls High School was briefly placed on lockdown following the incident. Police later clarified that the stabbing was not related to the school and did not pose a threat to students or staff.
The area remained secured for several hours as investigators collected evidence and interviewed witnesses. Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact Central Falls Police.
