According to Acting Detective Inspector Adam Steele, responding officers located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene. One of the victims was pronounced dead, while the other was taken to London Health Sciences Centre and remains under medical care.

Police maintained a strong presence in the area throughout the morning hours. Several officers were seen at Hewitt Street and outside a nearby residence as investigators worked to secure possible scenes and collect evidence related to the incident.

Authorities stated that they are still working to determine the precise location where the shooting occurred and are asking for the public’s assistance as the investigation continues.

Steele said investigators are reviewing all available evidence and are encouraging anyone with relevant information to come forward. Police are also requesting dash camera footage or video surveillance from the surrounding area that may help establish the sequence of events.

The incident took place close to the location of London’s first homicide of 2026, where a stabbing at an apartment complex led to the death of a 45-year-old man and the arrest of a 38-year-old suspect.

Steele emphasized that incidents involving gunfire are treated with the highest level of seriousness by London police. He stated that significant resources are being dedicated to the investigation to ensure public safety and bring the case to a proper resolution.

The case has now been transferred to the Major Crime Section. No arrests have been made so far, and police have not released any suspect descriptions. Anyone with information is urged to contact the London Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
