Police Investigate Fatal Shooting at Chipotle Near Temple University, One Juvenile Dead

PHILADELPHIA, Police are investigating a fatal shooting that killed an 11-year-old boy inside a Chipotle restaurant near Temple University on Monday afternoon, authorities said, as a search continues for the suspect.
According to police, the shooting happened inside the Chipotle located at 11th Street and Montgomery Avenue, a busy area frequented by Temple University students and neighborhood residents. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found the child suffering from a gunshot wound.
The boy was pronounced dead at 5:24 p.m., police confirmed.
Investigators said the suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting and remains at large. Police described the suspect as a Black male, approximately 6 feet tall, last seen wearing a black North Face jacket over a navy blue hoodie, black pants, and black shoes. Authorities said he was carrying a gray backpack and was armed with a firearm.
The incident triggered a heavy police response in the Temple University area as officers canvassed nearby streets and reviewed surveillance video from the restaurant and surrounding businesses. Police have not released details about what led up to the shooting or whether the child was the intended target.
