Jason Vindich of Mount Airy, North Carolina Dies in Off-Duty Accident

JASON VINDICH, a veteran North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper assigned to Troop E, District 5 in Surry County, died Sunday after suffering injuries in an off-duty accident at his home, authorities confirmed.
Vindich, 50, was at his residence when the accident occurred. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and provided aid, but despite lifesaving efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries. Officials stated that the incident was not related to the winter weather conditions that affected the region over the weekend.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said Vindich’s death has had a significant impact on his family, fellow troopers in Troop E, District 5, and members of the Highway Patrol across the state.
Colonel Freddy L. Johnson Jr. issued a statement expressing condolences and offering support to those affected by the loss.
Vindich served with the Highway Patrol for many years and was described by colleagues as a dedicated professional and a valued member of the law enforcement community.
Funeral arrangements and additional details surrounding the off-duty accident were not immediately released.
