Hollister Shooting Leaves Officer Injured as Manhunt Continues in San Jose

HOLLISTER, Calif. — Law enforcement agencies are conducting an active manhunt following a series of violent incidents Wednesday evening involving a shooting, a reported death, and multiple carjackings across Hollister and parts of Northern California.
Authorities said the suspect allegedly fired at law enforcement officers, killed one person, and stole several vehicles during a chaotic sequence of events that triggered a large-scale police response.
The Hollister Police Department, San Jose Police Department, and California Highway Patrol are all involved in the search. Officials said more than two dozen patrol vehicles and multiple helicopters were deployed as officers tracked the suspect across multiple locations.
Police reported that the suspect abandoned a green sports car, jumped fences, and then carjacked a white Honda Civic while attempting to evade capture. Authorities also said the suspect earlier stole a Corvette from a Chevrolet dealership in San Jose.
During the pursuit, the suspect allegedly fired multiple shots at officers, prompting continued warnings to the public. The chase moved onto northbound U.S. 101 from Highway 25, according to authorities.
Officials warned that the suspect is considered armed and dangerous and urged motorists and residents to avoid the affected highways and nearby neighborhoods until the situation is resolved.
Authorities said no law enforcement officers have been reported seriously injured at this time. The suspect’s identity has not been released, and the investigation remains active.
Residents have been advised to remain indoors and to report any suspicious activity or sightings to local law enforcement or call 911.
