Florida Man Arrested on Suspicion of Premeditated Murder in Palm Beach County

PALM BEACH COUNTY, A man identified by authorities as Freddy Castaneda was arrested on suspicion of first-degree premeditated murder along with multiple weapons-related offenses, according to a police report released Sunday evening.
The arrest was documented under report number 474529 by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and published online at 7:03 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2026. In the report, Castaneda is described as a white male. He is also accused of unlawful possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted Florida felon and of discharging a missile into a dwelling, vehicle, building, or aircraft.
Investigators have not publicly disclosed details about the circumstances surrounding the alleged homicide. Authorities have also not released information about the victim or the specific location where the incident occurred. The report does not list Castaneda’s date of birth, and officials have not said whether prosecutors have formally filed charges at this stage.
Under Florida law, first-degree premeditated murder is considered one of the most serious criminal offenses and carries the potential penalty of life imprisonment without parole if a conviction is obtained. Weapons-related charges involving convicted felons can result in significant additional penalties.
Law enforcement officials emphasized that an arrest is an accusation and does not constitute proof of guilt. Castaneda is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing and that additional information may be released as the case develops.
