Two Dead, One in Critical Condition After Two-Vehicle Crash on Taft Highway

DRY RIDGE, Ky. (Grant County) Two people were killed and a third was left in critical condition following a head-on collision involving two vehicles along Taft Highway on Wednesday morning, according to Kentucky State Police.
Troopers were dispatched to the crash scene at approximately 11:00 a.m. near 2935 Taft Highway, where they found extensive damage to both vehicles and multiple victims in need of medical attention.
Authorities confirmed that two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while another victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Preliminary emergency radio traffic indicated the crash involved a severe impact. Reports suggested that at least one victim was heavily trapped inside a vehicle, while another was experiencing cardiac arrest at the scene.
First responders also reported that two juveniles suffered facial lacerations and were treated by medical personnel.
Because of the seriousness of the injuries, air medical evacuation was requested, and officials initially prepared for the possibility of deploying a second medical helicopter if necessary.
Emergency crews carried out triage procedures to determine the number of patients involved and to prioritize treatment based on injury severity.
Taft Highway in the immediate area was temporarily closed while investigators and rescue personnel worked at the scene and cleared the roadway.
Kentucky State Police have not released the identities or ages of the victims. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
