Elizabethtown Police: 15-Year-Old Girl Dies After Shooting Involving Another Teen

ELIZABETHTOWN, A 15-year-old girl died early Sunday morning after being shot in a Lowe’s parking lot, according to Elizabethtown police.
Police said officers responded to a report of a shooting just after 2:30 a.m. at the Lowe’s parking lot in Elizabethtown. When they arrived, officers found 21-year-old Bryan Harbison attempting to perform CPR on a 15-year-old girl who had been shot in the chest.
The victim was transported to Baptist Health Hardin, where she later died from her injuries.
According to Elizabethtown Police, Harbison told investigators that he met two 15-year-old girls through Snapchat and believed the victim was 18 years old. Police said Harbison admitted to purchasing alcohol for the girls before picking them up. The group later drove to the Lowe’s parking lot, where they planned to drink and spend time together.
Investigators said one of the girls was sitting in the driver’s seat while Harbison was in the back seat with the victim. Police stated that the other 15-year-old girl told officers she picked up a handgun inside the vehicle, pointed it at the victim, and pulled the trigger.
According to police, the teen who fired the gun said Harbison had placed the firearm on the center console and told them it was unloaded. Harbison, however, told officers the gun was secured inside the glove compartment and that the teen removed it without his knowledge.
The 15-year-old girl who allegedly fired the weapon was arrested and charged with murder.
Harbison was also taken into custody and charged with unlawful transaction with a minor and wanton endangerment. Police said he is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, January 12.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
