Cornelius Traves Murphy Jr. Identified in Pontiac Death Investigation

CORNELIUS MURPHY JR, a 19-year-old from Warren, Michigan, died earlier this week in a shooting that remains under investigation, leaving family members, friends, and the community grieving his loss.
According to authorities, Cornelius Traves Murphy Jr. was found unresponsive in a field near the 100 block of North Jessie Street in Pontiac at approximately 8:16 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7. Law enforcement officials reported that he had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the shooting occurred the previous evening, around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Murphy’s death. Officials have stated that no arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation remains active as detectives work to determine what led up to the shooting.
