Authorities Investigate Fatal Shooting After Altercation at South-Side Motel
SAN ANTONIO — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday morning following an altercation on the city’s south side, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
Police said officers were dispatched at approximately 9:19 a.m. to a report of a shooting in progress at the Sunrise Motel, located in the 4500 block of South Presa Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 39-year-old man unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds. Authorities stated that the man was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the man later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital, SAPD confirmed.
Investigators reported that witnesses told officers the man had been involved in an altercation with an unknown individual prior to the shooting. At this time, police said it is unclear what led to the confrontation or how the situation escalated.
No arrests have been made, and the suspect involved has not yet been identified, according to SAPD.
The shooting remains under active investigation. Police noted that all information released so far is preliminary and subject to change as detectives continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
