Bondi Beach Tragedy: Video Shows Aftermath of Shooting at Hanukkah Event in Sydney

Authorities are investigating a deadly mass shooting that occurred Sunday evening during a Hanukkah gathering at Bondi Beach in Sydney—an attack police are treating as a suspected terror incident.
Officials reported that two gunmen opened fire on the crowded “Chanukah by the Sea” celebration, resulting in multiple fatalities and numerous injuries.
According to NSW Police, gunfire erupted shortly after 6:40 p.m., causing hundreds of people to flee the beachfront area as emergency responders rushed toward the scene.
Witnesses described hearing dozens of shots, and video footage reviewed by investigators appears to show two individuals dressed in black firing what looked like shotgun-style weapons from an elevated footbridge behind the surf club.
Police have confirmed at least 10 fatalities, though some reports suggest the number could be as high as 12 as officials continue victim identification and verification.
More than 11 others were injured, with several victims listed in critical condition.
Authorities also confirmed that one suspect was killed during the incident, while another suspect remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Investigators identified one of the suspected attackers as 24-year-old Naveed Akram as inquiries continue into the circumstances of the attack, the motive, and the possibility of additional accomplices.
Police credited a bystander with intervening and disarming one of the attackers—an act believed to have prevented further casualties.
The attack prompted widespread condemnation and expressions of solidarity. Global leaders issued statements offering condolences and support as news of the incident spread.
Australian officials and community leaders called the attack a heinous and antisemitic assault on a religious celebration, urging unity, strength, and vigilance in the aftermath.
Authorities have increased security throughout Sydney and continue to urge the public to avoid the immediate area while forensic work and witness interviews continue.
Further updates are expected as police release confirmed casualty figures and additional investigative findings.
