Kentucky State University Reports Shooting; Authorities Respond, Lockdown Active

Breaking update: Several people were reported injured Monday afternoon during a shooting incident at Kentucky State University (KSU) in Frankfort, Kentucky, leading to a large law-enforcement response and a campus-wide lockdown.
Frankfort Police said officers responded around 3:35 p.m. to reports of an active situation on the university’s south campus near the Young Hall area. After arriving, officers located multiple victims and began securing the scene.
Authorities said a suspect has been taken into custody. Even so, officials indicated the campus remained on lockdown while police continued clearing buildings, checking nearby areas, and coordinating with university safety personnel.
Initial reports stated that eight people were hurt, though officials have not released details about the severity of injuries or confirmed whether any of the injured are students.
KSU officials advised students and staff to continue sheltering in place until further notice and to follow directions from campus and local law enforcement.
Multiple agencies, including the Frankfort Police Department and Kentucky State Police, were reported on scene as the investigation continued. Further updates are expected as officials confirm additional information.
