Kennewick Case Update: Police Arrest 15-Year-Old Suspect After Alexander Carcamo Shooting

UNION GAP, Wash. — Kennewick Police say they have arrested a 15-year-old boy from West Richland in connection with the December 3 fatal shooting of 16-year-old Alexander Carcamo at an apartment complex on West 10th Avenue.
The juvenile suspect was taken into custody on a first-degree murder charge following a multi-agency operation involving local law enforcement and the FBI. Investigators said detectives have been working the case since the night of the shooting, collecting evidence and following multiple leads, which ultimately led to the 15-year-old being identified as the primary suspect. Police then obtained an arrest warrant.
On the evening of December 9, investigators tracked the suspect to a home in Union Gap. Officers executed two related search warrants—one at a residence on West Pine Street in Union Gap and another on Summitview Road in Cowiche. Police said the juvenile was located inside the Union Gap home and arrested without incident.
During the searches, investigators reported that multiple firearms were recovered from both locations and were seized as evidence. The suspect was transported to Kennewick and booked into the Benton-Franklin Juvenile Justice Center on a first-degree murder charge.
Police also said a second person was arrested at the same Union Gap residence on unrelated allegations. Authorities identified him as 20-year-old Andres Medina-Garcia, who police believe may be connected to recent break-ins at Hubby’s Pizza and Summer’s Hub in Kennewick. Medina-Garcia was taken into custody and transported to the Yakima County Jail.
The investigation began on December 3 at approximately 7:22 p.m., when Kennewick officers responded to reports of an active shooting at an apartment complex on West 10th Avenue. Officers said they found a 16-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wounds and attempted life-saving measures, but he died at the scene. The victim was identified by loved ones as Alexander Carcamo, and police said the family has been notified.
Detectives continued to collect evidence and canvass the area as the case developed. The Kennewick Police Department is asking anyone with additional information to contact investigators at 509-628-0333 or submit an anonymous tip online.
