Emergency Response After Ceiling Collapse Inside Aurora Theatre in East Aurora

Emergency crews rushed to the Aurora Theatre in the Village of East Aurora on Sunday after a portion of the ceiling collapsed inside the historic building while students and chaperones were present.
The incident occurred at the Aurora Theatre, located at 673 Main Street, during a scheduled event inside the two-story brick structure. Officials said ongoing construction work inside the building contributed to the ceiling failure.
At the time of the collapse, approximately 68 students and adult chaperones were inside the theater. First responders confirmed that no one was trapped beneath the debris and that the collapse was confined to a limited area.
Emergency Medical Services evaluated six children at the scene for minor injuries. No serious injuries were reported, and none of the patients required hospitalization.
Firefighters and safety officials secured the building and conducted a structural assessment to determine whether additional hazards were present. Authorities stated that the remainder of the structure did not pose an immediate danger.
Officials are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the construction activity and the exact cause of the ceiling collapse. Additional updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
